Belize and Tikal: Rainforesta to Reefs |
February 9-17, 2008 & March 8-16, 2008 |
Belize |
9 |
$2,450
from Belize City |
You’d expect world-class snorkeling and paddling adventures in Belize (after all, it’s home to the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere!). But add in explorations of the country’s most pristine environments and a glimpse of ancient history at pivotal Maya sites and you’ll understand what we’ve known all along: Belize is one of Mother Nature’s best kept secrets! Still largely unaffected by tourism, Belize remains protected, unspoiled, and laden with hidden ecological and cultural wonders. Unlike other tour companies, we’ll take you to the most remote and pristine parts of the country.

$2,550
from Belize City |
This trip is so loaded with activities, cultural experiences & countries; that when you get home after the trip and you are asked “How was the trip?” you won’t know where to begin (except fantastic!). Our itinerary is designed on the trading route of the most precious commodity of the Ancient Maya – Jade. The Ancient Maya are just one component of this trip. We also explore present day cultures of the Garifuna, Mopan, Q’eqchi’, & Chorti Maya. This is highlighted by an overnight stay deep in the rainforest with a present day Q’eqchi’ Maya community where we will have traditional Maya meals, observe present-day rituals, and participate in a community dance. Mixed in with all this is kayaking, cave swimming, snorkeling and hiking.

Whale sharks, crocodiles, and sea turles of the Yucatan |
July 21-25, 2008 & August 4-8, 2008 |
Mexico |
5 |
$1,995 from Cancun |
|
World famous for beautiful beaches and Maya culture, the Yucatan Peninsula is a perfect destination for a quick trip to the tropics. This trip is nicely paced with a variety of activities with amazing wildlife viewing opportunities. We begin with the lobster fishing village of Holbox, perched on the north end of the Yucatan Peninsula surrounded by turquoise waters. This is our launching point for viewing whale sharks which migrate past this area each summer. From Holbox we head south to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve where we will accompany a biologist for a nighttime crocodile adventure – Discovery Channel live! With luck, the following night we will visit some sea turtle nesting sites and see young turtles emerging and begin their epic life journey. Our accommodations throughout the trip are located on the beach. Included in the mix of activities are snorkeling, birding, and visiting the Ancient Maya sites.
